UNIFORMS

We are soliciting parent volunteers who would like to be a part of the Parent Uniform Crew.  There will be a sign-up sheet on Fee Day if you’d like to help.

This group is responsible for getting our kids sized in the correctly fitted band uniforms for both marching and concert seasons.  Being a seamstress is not necessary at all!  We simply fit the students in the uniforms we have.  The only criteria is you would need to be at the school during the day when the students are there.

This year, we plan on fitting the students’ marching uniforms during the week of August 6th – 10th starting around 1:00pm until 4:pm in the bandhall.

Other activities include a washing day for all marching uniforms, fitting days for concert uniforms (during second semester), and a washing day for the concert uniforms.

This is a great way to get to know some of the parents and to meet every band student. We have fun and enjoy being with the kids.   It’s a lot of work, but the reward of seeing our good looking students on the field and on the stage is worth it!

Please give me, Deanna Blum or Cindy Vandevort a call or email me with any questions you have, or to sign up to join. We look forward to
working with you.

SUMMER UNIFORMS

The district allows us to dress cooler for the first two games.  Our summer uniform will be Khaki knee length shorts, black belt, white socks, mostly white tennis shoes and a blue Cy Creek Polo (provided).

MEAL PLAN

The meal plan is an optional service that our booster club provides our students that you may sign up for at fee day.  The cost is $70 ($7 X 10 games)  Prior to the football game we will serve the students a meal and drink (pizza, Chick Fil A, etc.) Students have been at school since 7:00am., many have had lunch at 10:30am, been at school all day, practiced their show, performed at the football game and won't return home until midnight after unloading the bus.  They all will need something to eat!  You may sign up for the full meal plan, sign up each week or parents may bring food.  (No food is allowed in the stands during a football game.)

KROGER CARD BALANCES

If you have been using your Kroger card and would like to apply your balance to your fees, there will be a current list of balances available at fee day.  Should you need to know your balance prior to Saturday, you may email Jessica at
joejessica36@yahoo.com  Kroger gift cards will also be available for anyone to start the program.  It is a win/win fundraiser for you!!!!

FLAG PROJECT

– A special thank you to Tim Walker for providing copies of extra fliers and coupons, to Berri Swirl for the Buy 1 and Get 1 Free Frozen Yogurt deal and to all of you for helping over the 4th of July!  Cathy Elijah has officially passed the torch now, but she deserves so much credit for getting this project off to a fantastic start.  Thank you Cathy!!

We are starting into our next Flag Year and the renewal letters went out on July 21st.  Remember to choose the holidays that work best for you to sign up to deliver and pick up flags next year.  Sign-up sheets will be available on Fee Day, August 4, 2012.  Holidays are Labor Day, Patriot Day, Veteran’s Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day and Independence Day.  Three holidays are required for each band student—Seniors please choose 3 holidays prior to Memorial Day; Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors please choose at least 1 of the summer holidays (Memorial Day or Independence Day) as 1 of your 3 holidays.

A suggestion has been made that we show our school pride for Cy Creek and our patriotism by presenting a uniform look  when distributing and picking up flags.  We could purchase “flag shirts” in the school color displaying the school name and a flag, or something similar, for between $5-$10.  Cost will vary depending on the fabric and design, but we will try to keep it down.  Wearing a spirit shirt or show shirt would always be an option to purchasing a “flag shirt.”  Please let us know what you think about this idea by emailing Gail atgeissler@comcast.net.

ROCK-A-THON

ROCK-A-THON – Is an easy fundraiser that is tons of fun.  Students obtain sponsorships to support the band for the amount of hours they "rock" The event is held at Creek and students bring any "rocking" chair and rock the night away.  Start on your sponsors now.  If you bring in at least $150 in donations to this event, your Band Banquet ticket will be covered.  All participants must bring in at least $50 in donations to the band.  You must bring in the money collected to the event.

PROCEDURES

If ever you have money, RSVP's, or other important information to turn in….it goes in the BLUE BOX attached to the wall in the band hall.  It has a lock on it.  Please make sure your information is clearly marked.  If turning in a check, please make sure the students name is in the "memo" line of the check and clearly mark with the check is for.  If you are turning in cash, please always use a sealed envelope with the amount, the students name and what the payment is for clearly marked on the envelope.

SHOW OFF/KICK OFF DINNER

This is the opportunity for parents and family to see what the band has been working so hard on their marching show.  It is also an opportunity for everyone to get to know each other.  Parents and families may attend, but everyone who it eating must make a reservation and pay $10.00 per person.  Band families will be able to pay for this at fee day or closer to the event. We will need to have money (turned into the blue box) for this event in by Monday, August 20th. We will be having Bar-b-que loaded spuds with dessert from Tiffany's Treats.

YOUR CHILDS SAFEFY IS IMPORTANT TO US!  YOU MUST PREPARE FOR THE HEAT!

Make sure your child eats breakfast with some form of protein and potassium (lots of bananas and oranges)  They must bring a their one gallon water jug FILLLED with water and ice to every practice.  They need to come to practice already hydrated.  This is serious stuff with the heat conditions!  Lay off all soft drinks.

FORMS/PHYSICALS

All physicals and forms should be completed.  They may be found on the band website www.cycreekband.com  You need to print all 14 pages.  There are signatures needed from parents and student.  There is also an agreement page that must be signed.  I would recommend making a copy before turning in to box in band hall.  (especially the physical…just in case!)  Turn in forms to the clear box labeled "Band Forms" in the band hall.  A Policy Agreement form must be signed by both parent and student and turned in.  The Band Handbook can be found on the forms page and the agreement form is the last page of the handbook.
